"GOBBLE JEE MAH!"

If you're Korean, you've undoubtedly heard this screamed at the top of a parental figures lungs, many-a-time.

If you're NOT Korean, although you might not have realized it, you have probably heard this if you have encountered a Korean friend's grandmother really pissed off.

Like many other Korean Americans, my parents worked until late at night so my grandmother was the head honcho during the day. She was one of the most generous, kind-hearted woman I have ever known, but like any other Hal-Muh-Nee she could give one hell of a bitch slap when she was pissed. But to me... there is a lot beauty to that.

So this shirt is a tribute to all the Hal-Muh-Nees and Um-Mahs that raised us with love in one hand and a stick in the other. Every time I see a small Korean child's attempt to pick up something dirty on the ground thwarted with those poetic words and a slap to the arm, a single tear rolls down my face.
